GREAT OAKS HEALTH ACADEMY, INC

Transitioning from a Personal Care Aide (PCA) to a Home Health Aide (HHA) in the medical field opens up new opportunities to provide specialized care and support to individuals in the comfort of their own homes. As a PCA, professionals are skilled in assisting with activities of daily living and providing companionship to clients. By becoming an HHA, PCAs can expand their skill set to include additional responsibilities such as medication management, basic medical procedures, and monitoring vital signs. HHAs often work closely with individuals who require more intensive care due to illness, disability, or age-related conditions. This transition allows PCAs to provide a higher level of personalized care, catering to the specific needs of patients in a home-based setting. By combining their existing skills and experience with the additional training and knowledge gained as an HHA, professionals can deliver comprehensive care and make a meaningful difference in the lives of their clients. The transition from PCA to HHA provides an opportunity for healthcare professionals to enhance their abilities, broaden their scope of practice, and continue to provide compassionate care in a more specialized and intimate setting.

PCA Upgrade to HHA Course–The Personal Care Aide (PCA) is permitted to perform fewer health-related tasks than the home health aide. Students enrolled in PCA upgrade are required to successfully complete 43 hours of training to be eligible for certification. The required performance standards must be successfully demonstrated to, and assessed by an approved RN Nurse Instructor.
